How do I care for my countertops?
Caring for your Countertop Surfaces
Cambria®, Zodiaq®, Hanstone®, Silestone® –
Caring for your Quartz product is easy. Simply wipe with warm water and
pH neutral, non-abrasive cleaner and a clear water rinse. That’s it!
Although this product is resistant to permanent staining, please wipe
all spills as soon as possible. Quartz products are also recommended
the use of trivets and hot pads while transporting hot items such as
pots and pans. This is recommended to achieve and maintain the
everlasting beauty of this product.
Granite –
The natural stone that you have purchased for your home is an
investment that will give you many years of beautiful services. The
main precaution for a homeowner to take is to prevent staining by
sealing your stone product every 9-12 months. The product that is
recommended is called Stone Spray-N-Seal®. The sealing instructions
will be attached separately and is suggested to follow as necessary.
Laminate –
To clean the surface of your laminate countertop, use a damp cloth or
sponge and a mild soap or detergent. Difficult stains such as coffee or
tea can be removed using a mild household cleaner and baking soda;
mixing to achieve a paste. Use a stiff nylon bristle brush scrubbing
the area. Do not scrub so as to mar the surface finish. Recommended
cleaners: Formula 409®, Dawn®, Windex®, Pledge®, Mr. Clean®,
Fantastik®, etc. (For wood edge counters, treat any exposed wood area
as care provided in this brochure for cabinets.)
Corian –
It is recommended to use a Light Duty #63 Scotch-Brite® Sponge with
Soft Scrub® for heavier duty cleaning of your entire countertop. For
everyday cleaning, soap and water is sufficient. Caution: use
only the SOFT side of the sponge on the deck of your countertop. The
rough side of the sponge is ONLY for the Sink Basin. The rough side of
the sponge will scratch and dull the surface of your counter. Your tops
may be professionally repaired and/or re-sanded. Please contact
Advantage Cabinets, Inc. if you feel this is necessary.
Cultured Marble –
The best way to clean your cultured marble product is with a
fiberglass cleaner and wax combination, such as Gel-gloss®. This has a
cleaner, wax and polishing agent combined. Clean with household dish
washing detergent in between waxing. Do not use abrasive cleaners on your marble top, as it will dull the surface gloss, such as Soft Scrub® with Scotch-Brite® Pad.
How do I care for my ‘Advantage’ Cabinets?
Caring for your Wood Products
New finishes on your cabinets products
are very tough when they leave Advantage Cabinets facility. However,
all finishes require a period of 30 days after application to achieve
maximum performance. Please treat your cabinetry with extra care
during the first 30 days after installation and do not subject to
strong cleaners or solvents.
Water
soluble cleaning solutions are best for routine cleaning of
cabinetry. This finish may be wiped clean using a soft cloth (avoid
using abrasive cloths, brushes and pads) and a mild soap such as Murphy® Oil Soap (carefully follow package instructions).
It
is important to thoroughly rinse the surface with clean water and immediately dry with a soft cloth after cleaning with soap solutions. Soap residues
left on the surface can result in streaks and smudges on the finish.
Cabinets should never be immersed in water or other liquids.
Wood
naturally undergoes subtle changes in color or patina as it ages
regardless of the type of coating used to protect and finish the
surface. The Sherwin-Williams® finishes supplied for our cabinets are
formulated to resist discoloration as a result of exposure to
ultraviolet light, but all wood species will gradually change color
with age and exposure to direct sunlight. This is a normal
characteristic of wood.
